Why I wanted to have this conversation

Easter felt like an appropriate time to explain an important part of who I am. My faith in Christ Jesus is central to my life, and some Christians who saw the channel had questions about my interest in reborn dolls. I wanted to respond in my own words, with the care a sincere question deserves.

In the feature, I talk about my faith and my journey as a Christian. I also talk about how collecting fits into my family and my priorities. This is a personal account of my convictions and experience. It does not depend on every viewer sharing my beliefs or reaching the same conclusion about the hobby.

One part of a whole life

Evelyn joins me in her Easter outfit while I explain that the dolls are one part of my life. They do not describe everything about me. I am still a husband, a dad and the same person people knew before I shared this interest publicly.

That context matters when a short clip becomes someone’s first introduction to a collector. A few seconds of a person holding a doll cannot explain their whole faith, their family or their intentions. I would rather make room for a respectful question than let an assumption become the whole story.

Grace in the way we speak to each other

The Easter message leads me back to grace, redemption and the hope I find in Christ. I want the way I speak to reflect that faith, including when I feel misunderstood. Explaining my position honestly and listening carefully are both part of the conversation.

I do not expect one video to answer every concern. I do hope it gives a clearer picture of my heart and why I chose to share this part of my life. The feature preserves that Easter-weekend conversation in its original setting. If you come to it with a different perspective, you are welcome to listen, ask sincere questions and respond with the same respect you would want for your own story.
